Not that I have found the golden fleece or anything but I gotta say, it really is easier staying on plan and not taking to big of a detour than trying to get back on plan. Trying to get back on plan is he!! when I have veered to far. I hope I've learned my lesson after this shot (I'm on my third). Lisa EEEEEEEW....vomiting pumpkins...LOVE IT!!!!

I had someone take a candid (hence could not suck by belly in or hide my stomach behind anyone) shot of me a few months before I got serious last year. It was depressing I looked 5 months pregnant at best, like an out of shape slob at worst. I have actually tried to find it so I can post it as one of my "before" shots

I would suggest eating lots of tasty foods. Try no vegetables, fruits, or plant products for one month. Many people, who may think they have trouble with dairy, adapt within a couple weeks if they eat cheese or a quality ice cream. Body has to grow the right bacteria to digest it. Hamburger, bacon, cheese, egg yolks, a cup of quality ice cream a day, no vegetable matter. Liverwurst. Wine. My BM's improved with the cup of ice cream a day...

Hairloss? REALLY?
Published (2009-11-29 10:36:00)
When I was on optifast, which is a low /cal low carb plan, the docs gave me biotin supplements to prevent hairloss. I don't remember the mg.s but it is a popular supplement, you could google it and see how much to take. I also think its good to eat veggies like the book says, even if I hate them too.

I liked your comparison to the scarcity of "ordinary" fiction to the scarcity of food without the crap we're all trying to avoid. Clearly what you need is a GF/CF/Carb free novel!
About the eating... you might want to ask yourself if you really want to lose the weight and see if there's a reason you're holding back. I'm not one to go all introspective but something I think you've said ...

Hi again!
I just wanted to comment on this post, too.
I don't know whether my experience with low blood sugar symptoms are relevant to yours, as I am about twice your age, but nonetheless, I think they could be.
I had low blood sugar in summer, which I initially tried to treat with supplementing with zinc, as zinc is involved in sugar metabolism and glucose regulation. This did ...

Thank goodness I have a huge say of what is eaten at Thanksgiving. Although carby things are served most everything is LC and the family is fine with it.

I'm so far from savvy it's not even funny...BUT... I have found that if I eat earlier at night and don't have anything else after, I do have a better "morning" with my friend the scale. I do best if I can eat and be done for the night by 6:30ish.

I see the word "Effortless" and I'm instantly done reading. Weight loss is never, ever going to be completely effortless, and anyone who tells you it can be is taking you (and your money) for a ride.
On a low-carb diet, for most people, moderation is difficult. Months of work can be undone in a few simple cheats because one cheat often brings back carb cravings, and leads to more cheats. ...

Never been there. A girlfriend went severely overweight and came back 6 months later still overweight, but much less so (20-25 pounds rather than 70-80 pounds).
The way she told it jived with what I read in the book Japanese women don't get old or fat . Meals were comprised of tiny, individual bowls. She said rice came in 1/4-1/2 cup servings at a time. And, while seconds were allowed, ...

Well your experience is certainly unique and you're right, no one knows. All I can say is, when I freak out about loose skin -and that's often after 120lbs lost- I remember something I once heard a plastic surgeon say which is "elasticity and the ability skin has to retract to fit a new body is very personal and depending on many factors, no one can predict it but a good rule of thumb is that no...

I'm going to let Judy or one of the South Beach experts give you the real skinny on that, but. . . from what I've read, and following Atkins basically if you get to maintenance you are pretty much eating South Beach style. As you add carbs in you should be lowering the amount of fat. AS you progress to maintenance you should be adding things like beans/legumes etc.
Don't blast me here ...

For me - I had extremely high cholesterol and triglycerides. I'd been seeing my endocrinologist regularly and had actually lost some weight, but my lipids were NOT improving. My endo told me to try Atkins. When I asked her what will Atkins do for me, she just smiled and said, "Buy the book". The rest is history. Oh, and my lipids have never been better.
