Hit the wall, how do I get over it?

Quote: As soon as I walked in the door last night my roommate told me she had coupons for a meal deal and was picking it up. I told her I don't want it. She was pouty for a few hours but got over it and took her son. I hung out with her for a while so she would know I wasn't rejecting her just the food. It was the 3rd time in a few days I've told her I don't want french fries, I think it may have sunk in this time. sounds...

Truvia Question
Published (2009-11-10 12:16:00)
So basically Truvia IS erythritol - just that now it is sold in stores and given a brand name, right? I just bought a box, which still isn't cheap, but I guess neither is Splenda. If Truvia is as natural as sugar (as the commercials suggest) why isn't it as cheap as sugar?

ImOnMyWay - you were asking if I had any data on how fermentation affects the goitrogen content of soy. Atkins products

Definitely a your mileage may vary. If it's a choice between going off plan or having the ATkins bar becuase those are the only choices, I'd go with the Atkins bar. But, if possible I would stay away from them--at least until you're in the upper rungs of the carb ladder and even then far and few in-between. I wouldn't make a habit of them. There are some people who eat them regularly without problem. Me?, they make me...

How to convince Diabetic friend...

This sounds like my sister. She's had T2 diabetes since 1988, is about 450 pounds, extremely sedentary due to other health issues including CFIDS, MS, and on and on, mostly in a wheel chair. She won't touch low-carb with a 100-foot pole, even when her dr. has tried and tried to get her to go that way. When I did Atkins in the past, she totally bashed it ... all the while eating foods I had cooked when she'd visit. (but downing...

Not me. 1 cup of espresso with 2 TBS 1/2 & 1/2 every morning. I gave up bread, wheat, sugar, grains, etc. I did not give up alcohol (usually a galss of wine or two a couple of times a week), coffee (as above), dairy, occs SF soda, and an occasional low carb SF candy (like a Russell--OK--so shoot me, but better than a real one). I figure this is for life (or it should be) I've got to live with ...

I'm not a vegetarian but eat many vegetarian dishes as I'm not a great meat fan.
I mainly followed Rose Elliot's ( she's the author of the ( Vegetarian Low-Carb Diet ) which allows far more variety during Induction. She does follow Atkins suggestions for 20 g carbs during this period.

Why can't you just tell her that you're doing LC? Say, "I love that you're thinking of me, but I'm low-carbing for now to see how it goes." Or something.

Well...if you've been eating carbs and your glycogen stores are full---it will take you a few days or so to deplete them. As for induction flu--YMMV, it really depends if you do a cold turkey Atkins induction 20G or if you slowly drop your carbohydrate intake. I find when you go cold turkey, I can almost exactly gauge when my glycogen stores are depleted---usually 3 days--I call it DDT--...

There is such a thing as carb loading. Body builders do it. It is NOT an all out binge. Rather it generally is a day of eating higher carbs, but of healthy food.
That being said, it is NOT something I would recommend as it can send some people on an all out carbfest and it makes it difficult to get back on. Dr A did not recommend it (not that specifically) but he does say - excuse me I ...

Cholesterol is your friend. Our bodies need it and makes additional if we don't have enough. High cholesterol does not cause bad health; if you eat a low-carb diet, you should have lots of healthy type cholesterol, including the fluffy LDL (it's the dense LDL which is a problem, and is caused by too many carbs).

i used to work out religiously. then i found myself justifying my eating off plan by saying, "well, i worked out this week, so i can eat this candy bar" or whatever it was i wanted to eat at the time. then i stopped working out but kept eating whatever i wanted to eat and 7 years later, here i am again, trying to lose basically what amounts to a whole child in weight.

Hey yall. So I started 10/13 and during induction I lost 8 pounds. But since then, it's been nothing. One day the scale is up 2 pounds, the next it's back to the minus 8. I don't understand.
I have been getting discouraged because of this. I cheated once and it had no effect on the scale. I made a lc cheesecake so I would feel a little more satisfied and not go off the deep end again.

Depending on where you live, there could be a local farm where you can purchase fresh organic hormone free meats. There are many options online - just google and you can order a wide variety of meats shipped frozen to you. Most grocery stores offer a selection of free range, grass feed, hormone free meats. You just have to decide which farming practices you are comfortable with and be willing to...

Its 3g / packet and tastes like a slightly minty sugar (no fillers) -- I like it in tea. I don't put in much, the sweetness develops over time. I found it a more expensive sweetening solution than say saccharin (the pink packet).
