I did well, had a few bites of some carby stuff but definitely didn't go overboard and I'm right back on track this morning with no regrets or guilt! Hope everyone had a pleasant harvest!!

I messed up yesterday and today I'm back on plan, but I feel tired and slumpy. I am going to remind myself of this on Christmas, I may write it on my hand in marker so when I look at my fork or plate I can see the message. Don't eat crap you'll feel like it tomorrow. Carbs don't have a laxative effect on me they cause constipation for me. Quote: Originally Posted by sissi1980 Once the pain is over, the next day I feel...

Daedreamer - congrats on your success getting through without major slip-ups and for recognizing one of the big breakthroughs of sticking with low carbing. You suddenly realize that the carby stuff has lost its appeal and really doesn't taste as good as you thought it did!

I had one piece of my mom's pumpkin pie! I was only up 1 lb the next day! I am going to allow myself one piece for Christmas. After experiencing Thanksgiving what do you all plan to do for Christmas? Have your plans changed at all?

My question is, is an occasional treat (every few weeks) actually good for the diet? What does Dr. A say? As long as it is not a binge, it's laxative effect is worth it's weight in gold. Personally, I am willing to endure the very temporary pain of digesting off-plan food, and indulging every few weeks (in controlled manner, not a binge) makes me feel like I am not depriving myself. Once the...

I'll recap what I said in another thread for those trying to decide how to handle Thanksgiving temptation.
Look into your heart and ask yourself if you will be able to get back on track after eating off plan for today.
If you are relatively new into your diet the new habits can be delicate and you might be setting yourself up for trouble by straying now. Thanksgiving is one a year, ...

It is fine in controlled quantities once you get to the sweet fruit ladder of atkins. However early on it is best to avoid it.

Oil of the coconut is a saturated fat the revs up the metabolism and improves thyroid function. With antibiotic, antifungal and antiviral properties it can strengthen the immune system. When applied to the skin and hair it helps to improve their condition including wrinkle removal. It also improves cholesterol by raising the HDL ( good ) cholesterol without affecting the LDL ( bad ) cholesterol....

Hi - I would have a little stuffing (count the carbs) but I'd stay away from the cheese cake. Are you still on induction? Eat relatively carb free until your Thanksgiving dinner. Enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving from Toronto, Canada.

The whole idea is to eat 1000 calories, 90% of which should come from fat, ideally in 5 meals of 200 calories each. You are really only supposed to do it if you are losing no weight or inches at all on induction.
I've never done it, but any time I feel like my loss is slowing, I lower the calories a little and bump the fat percentage up to about 80% and that is always pretty effective. Lots...

A lot of members love Hellmans, several look for brands that use any oil except soy oil, preferably olive oil, and a fair number of us make our own. The consensus seems to be that the small amount of sugar in real mayonnaise is too small to worry about. If you have a blender, it's quite simple to make and only takes about 5 minutes. The trick is adding the oil very slowly - a drop or two at ...

I don't think Women's World magazine (or any other magazine) is a reputable place to get medical advice. Their objective is to sell magazines and most of the media think bad news sells better than good.
I've been cutting carbs for 17 years, since I was diagnosed with diabetes. Not only am I no longer a diabetic, my dr wrote EXCELLENT on my blood test results. My heart scan showed nothing ...

I should also add that most of what I ingest is fat. Heavy Cream, cheese, meat balls that have more fat grams than protein, oil based dips, chicharron, etc. Im typically always at an 80% fat ratio.
As for carbs, I doubt I go over 15g per day though on the days that I eat those meatballs it is possible that I reach 20g but none of which is from sugar (starch carbs). And I typically take a...

I love it! I use it in coffee, or to mix it into a frap. style drink. I use the unsweetened vanilla, of course.
