Amna yay And Karla--I found a pic of the sky and a field, cropped it a bit. Then photoshopped a girl in because it was looking too bland. The girl is pretty small It's mostly the sky.

every september, my city is literally INVADED by these damn ladybugs. when i got in the shower one morning and turned on the head thing, all these ladybugs came flying out because they were like, laying their eggs in there or something. or i think they're ladybugs. some kind of bug...

Just Ask--Diary Of A Teenage Girl by Melody Carlson--very interesting. It's told from the view of a teenage Asian girl that's been adopted by a caucasian family.

Mmm...kind of - I was describing my WIP to my grandmother, and she's all "Oh, like what Dan Brown did?"
And granted, it's nothing about religious conspiracy theories/groups so I'm pretty sure that my use is in a completely different direction, but she read one sentence from the book that my description reminded her of, and I was ready to send my jump drive through the shredder!

Why YA? Because I've been writing since I was a tiny little thing. Basically, my characters always tended to be 12 or 13 until I reached that age (that is, after I stopped writing with animals as the mc's), when they moved up a little, and that kept happening till my characters hit 17/18 when they just sort of stayed there. ...

Agnieszka: That's a good one - she'd have to be tall, fair haired, but not slender, London accent but she'd have to say some of her lines in Polish. Joely Richardson's got the height and the hair, so drop her twenty years and put some weight on. My girlfriend's easy - just find a younger Alicia Witt or a younger Julianne Moore.

Trends come and go, and by the time time one is spotted it's usually already on its way out. Right now, fantasy is hot, and YA in general is very hot. But if you're starting a book now, it'll be 2-3 years before it hits the shelves, and by then who knows what will be hot.
Writing what you want is always the best way to go And great books sell no matter what the genre or what's ...
