One of the most gorgeous films ever. I just didn't like the end when the "beast" turns into the boring looking prince. I'd take the Beast any day of the week.

1.5 stars out of 5. Every character seemed to have an IQ about 40 points lower than they did in the books. Except for Sookie's brother, maybe. Sloooow-moving. I won't miss this when HBO goes away tomorrow.

This is a brilliant, sad, emotional and disappointing film. I cried. Alot. But perhaps that because I have a (many) military ties. First the brilliant. The dialogue, especially with the reporter and the cop at the beginning and with the soldiers in the middle is well written and textured. The plot is not brilliant, but well done. The performances by Derek Luke and the other soliders...

We have a Movies thread, but I'm always curious what folks are watching on television. Especially with most series on hiatus for the summer. And yes, pre-taped or DVD boxed sets count. I watched an episode of Star Trek: Enterprise , on the Sci Fi Channel's all day marathon.

Some of you may know that I review movies. Some weeks it's easy for me to pick one or two to see and review, and sometimes it's almost impossible. So, I'm going to come here often to ask for your votes. Opening this week -- what should I review? 1. Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist -- granted, it's out of my age group, but it looks really funny 2. Beverly Hills Chihuahua -- ...

Read all about it... Now, I'm very much not one of those cats who likes to rail against "political correctness." I do believe that if you make something offensive you have to reap the results, and that may be protests or boycotts, etc. But this just seems dumber than all-damn-dumbness. I'm trying to read the book right now (Jose Saramago's narrative style and regard for ...

OK, so I think I've got my official lineup for my fall TV viewing schedule. I've gotta keep my favorite classics: the Office, Grey's, CSI, Lipstick Jungle But I think I'm going to try out some new shoes, too. There's this one show on CBS called the Ex-List where this woman has one year to find her soul mate or she'll be alone forever... the trick is that she's already met him at some point...

So anyone else catch the premiere last night? It took me about twenty minutes to full intergrate into the fairy tale atmosphere of the show, but once I did, I was caught. The visuals are very pretty. The leads are endearing and have genuine chemistry. Swoosie Kurtz and Ellen Greene are spot-on as a pair of shut-in, nutty aunts. My only real concern is that the "gimmick" is going to ...
