I didn't know that about Titanic -- I'd always assumed that backlash was just Leo-hate (or jealousy) and anti-romance. Never understood the idea of LOTR being ponderous--have any of them actually read Tolkien's book?

Quote: Why did the Soviet(?) film committee accept the film after rejecting it at initially (so he had to do Solaris first)? Why did they reject it in the first place? They rejected it because they found it to be "incomprehensible" and "elitist". I guess, since Solaris was a success, that they decided to give him a little more leeway after that. __________________ I am Exir. Want some ?

I think the guys in this version are better actors than the originals. They have better dialogues, too.

I have several friends that just love Monk. I think the humor is a bit old
and lagging, and only watch it on re runs if nothing else is on. I guess it
will have it's own cult following.

Just caught up. Second episode is phenomenally better. I'm not claiming
it's perfect, but I like the setup they're building. Seems like this, with
some tweaks, would have made a much better pilot. The flashbacks, with her
handler meeting the team, makes me think it was supposed to be the pilot,
too.

White Collar (USA)
Another new original series for USA! And this already looks like it's going to be up there with Burn Notice as another hit.
From the website: "White Collar is about the unlikely partnership of a con artist and an FBI agent who have been playing cat and mouse for years. Neal Caffrey ( Matt Bomer ), a ...

I thought she was perfect for Jane because she was supposed to look all sweet and unassuming, but was really evil.
I've got my tickets, too, and can't wait! But I don't think there are too horribly many of us on AW. lol

I know I've discussed it but it was probably in a thread about the book.

I love that people were calling them Gleeks before the series premiere aired.
As for the show, I think it's clever and cute in parts, but it's in danger of becoming tiresome quickly. I think they can stay above that, though.
I do wish they'd iron out some of the vocals... The music is obviously all pre-recorded but I think they can do a better job of making it feel less so.

I'm worried with such a HUGE pilot, they would have a problem following it up. We'll see. I mean, LOST did start with a plane crash...

I predict in the future all films will be made via LOLcats. It's much cheaper to make them, but you still keep the high production values. Also, everything is better with kittehs!

Got Kindergarden Cop, Junior, and Twins in the three movie, two disc set for my birthday. Blew my Wip right out the door. We called it Arnold Day. I'd never seen KP before, and always believed that it would be a comedy/farce. Didn't know it was such a drama. Junior is my favorite, I think because of Emma Thompson's performance. I just love the way Danny and Arnold play off each other.

All I can say is, I'm glad I didn't have daughters.
I heard some teen girls on the news saying how hot Edward Cullen was and all boys should be that hot. My wife started gagging. "He's creepy! And the actor is even creepier in real life!"

I can't believe Dark Knight is not on that list. I mean, shoot, even I like some movies that are not Dark Knight , but I think it was much better than AI.

No, it would not be legal and the expenses required to run it would make it impossible.

Since I love disaster/apocalyptic films, I'll see this one even if the reviews pan it completely.
