Beta Reader Needed

You want someone to read your work, and yet you have nothing whatsoever on here about it. Ask yourself this, would you take a book off the shelf, in a shop, that had a plain cover on it, no blurb, no genre, no nothing, then buy it and read it? No, neither would I. And this come from someone who used to do a load of beta reading on here, but I would never take on something I knew absolutely nothing about.

Update: Someone has graciously offered to beta read for me, and though I would not be adverse to more opinions, perhaps you'd like to share your talents and time with someone who has not snagged a beta reader yet.

I need a beta reader for my 50k young adult historical. This story takes place during the civil war period and there are racial slurs and curse words in it. I would much rather send a few chapters at a time so I have something to work on while another part is being read. I need help with some grammar issues and well has show and tell. This story is different view points so I need to make sure that isn't a problem also. PM me if you are...

Yup. Like most people, I have genres I read a lot, genres I dabble in, and genres I avoid diligently. If I can't tell what genre a work is, I'm not going to volunteer a big chunk of my time to read it. What if it's one of the ones I detest? I second the suggestion to share the first chapter at the appropriate Share Your Work board and to back up any requests for beta readers by providing a link to that chapter plus a description...

About how soon are you looking for feedback, and how much wordcount is "halfway"? For the sort of response you want, I'd be happy to take a look and give some comments, but it'd likely take me a week or two to read and organize said comments. Longer if "halfway" is above around 50k.

I might be able to get a 12-(almost 13)-year-old boy to read it if you're interested.

Hi, like the thread name says, I'd like a beta(s) only for the first 50 pages of my YA paranormal (roughly 15,000 words). I've had a few super awesome betas critique the whole thing through, but I need someone's opinion who hasn't read all of it. Here's part of the query, but I'm not sure how much help it'll be for someone only reading the beginning of the story. Thanks and PM if interested!...

Willing Beta Readers Volume II
The old Willing Beta Readers thread has been running for just under three years now. Although not as long as, say, the Learn Writing with Uncle Jim thread, it's becoming a bit unwieldy. Some members who posted in the old thread are no longer active on AW, or they can no longer act as beta readers....

As in you need someone to look at ONLY the second half of the book, or you need another beta for the first 100 pages?

If you have an agent, and you're already sending it to publishers, that usually means it's in the best possible shape. So, why would you need crit and/or reassurance?
