A word about music and FME/Q from Mrs. Doc... Hello, Free motion quilting has proven to be a challenge for me. I had lunch with a quilting friend and asked if she had the same issue. We are both quasi-computer geeks (she taught Computer Science at a local university; I have worked for 25 years in IS at a big company). I just turned a teddy bear, Di, but the tool of choice here is pretty short;
3" at best. I think it's called a NitPicker and its original use was to
slip a pull from a knit sweater down to the inside of the garment. Maybe
you're thinking of that Purple Thang? If the arm is not skinny, just lots of
things could be your weapon of choice including a pencil (eraser first),

I've bought satisfactory wide backs at both hancocks-paducah.com and
keepsake quilting. The former even has wide batiks, if you should ever
need them. Another option might be a big sheet, especially if you're
machine quilting. (High thread counts = hard to needle.) Wash it
first, of course. I could imagine a striped sheet in pastels...

Hi Leslie,
I read about that technique (it's not couching, but similar) within
the last month or so with regard to my PCQ; I agree there are some
nifty possibilities. There was also mention of using double needles
with ribbon or seam tape in creating stain & art glass quilts, Asian
panels (my vocabulary is gone fishing tonite... :-( etc.

So glad you mentioned the marker smearing, Donna. I just put tiny dots of
white on the eyes of a teddy bear appliqué and was terribly tempted to sash
him without a reasonable drying time. I think I would simply croak if the
paint or a marker smeared. So glad you had a jelly bean waiting in the
wings to save the day. Polly

One of our DDs has a friend whose toddler DD goes to the same preschool

Our holiday feasts are much like Doc's, only 3 of us and 1 eats Eukanuba.
However. I remember many times when our sons and grandsons managed to
devour everything on the table except the silver, lick their plates and
somehow leave every little green piece of chopped bell pepper untouched.
They didn't dare mention that they didn't like green things . . . and I
didn't have to kill them....

Ah, the joys of having a home! (((Hugs))) to you and Bert, this too

that went on (and on) for nearly a year.
I hope it's all over in time for you to enjoy your Christmas vacation!
