cannot get to audio video setup
Published (2009-12-30 07:55:00)

This means that I use Live Messenger 8.1 in compatibility mode for Windows 2000 to prevent the message asking me to upgrade whenever I try to connect. This results in the problem that I cannot get to the audio video setup in Live Messenger so cannot use my Webcam with Messenger. If I remove the...

Just a simple messenger
Published (2010-01-04 11:58:00)
Hello, I'm looking for a simple basic messenger just for sending text messages which come up in popup on the computer on the other side. This messenger may work on the Live network or another instant messenger network. Thanks in advance, Eric

I had EXACTLY that roblem too and tonight I have just worked out the solution. Log on to your LIVE account ( https://accountservices.msn.com/editprof.srf ) with the login address you use and after logging in, edit your profile and ensure that you at least have a first name and last name in your profile. (I cheated and just added the 'nickname' (desired display name) in both fields)....

Greetings, Are you sure the emoticons button is appearing? If they were all gone, it would indicate that the formatting toolbar has just been turned off. If that were the case, you could open any conversation window, press the Alt key on the keyboard to bring up the menu bar, choose Tools, then Show toolbars, and then choose Formatting. Otherwise try shutting down Messenger and ...

It just took awhile to randomly popup... I was in Vista SP2 Compatibility so I am trying XP SP3 now to see if that helps. I also checked in properties of the program (same place you set compatibility) to open minimized. Still it seems like I have a virus, but it could be Outlook opening messenger but Outlook isn't open at the moment so who knows. OK so that didn't work either GRR. No...
