I hate to say this but you really need to contact your MP or whomever is responsible for your consumer legislation. In the US and Canada due to pressure and legal arguments, Epson was forced to supply the small propriety software required to reset that counter (It is held in an EEPROM within the printer). The reason for it is to protect your furniture and carpets from being damaged to ink leaking out of the waste ink pads. However, not only...

I am using Win xp. My deskjet 970 cse is about ten years old but still running great. I use cheap recycled cartridges which have a built-in printhead and a large tank. (HP 45) With the advent of Win 7, there is no driver for this printer, except a half-assed generic driver from Microsoft. HP does not make drivers for this printer for Win 7. One might consider this a good reason for sticking with Win Xp. But, I am seduced by the Aero eye-candy...

Art, I also understand that pigments deliver better image permanence than dyes do. And that dyes are more forgiving about print head clogging. I realize that I've written generalizations, but I'd like to hear your opinions about this since you've probably worked with a few different ink formulations on your Epson journey. Richard
