Processor Question
Published (2009-12-04 18:14:00)
Hi! According to the device manager, I have 2 entries for "Intel Pentium D CPU 2.80GHz" processor. That isn't a Core 2 Duo processor, it is a Pentium D. :-) Okay...maybe that wasn't the most useful thing to say. The Pentium D is an odd product in Intel's lineup. You could think of it as a late model Pentium 4 because that's basically what it is. It would fit somewhere between initial lineup of Intel Core...

The reverse happened yesterday. An Avast virus definition update flagged about 40 of my exe files as infected with Win32 elf-MZG [Trj]. It was a false positive. 40 programs would no longer work as the exe files were moved to the Vault. As fast as I restored them, Avast put them back in the Vault. I restored an image taken a few hours earlier (prior to the update) and my computer was once again functional. Last night Avast fixed their virus...

Hi! It says "PCIX card connectors." A Promise adapter will go into one of those ok.. yes? There are three tabs and two keys in the board. Sure. Those slots are backwards compatible to regular PCI cards. What could go in them normally is a so-called 64-bit PCI-X card. (Be careful and don't confuse that with PCI Express, which is abbreviated as PCIe, or PCI-E.) PCI-X cards are normally specialized application devices,...
