There's a very vague problem with Nvidia but I think it only applied to 15/17" MBPs and even in the
annals of "very few affected" it seems that very very few were affected by it. Apple extended the warranties on the affected kit back in the Spring from memory. It wouldn't stop me buying.

Did something similar a long time ago so memory is sketchy but can you not create a
new "Location" and set that (the D-Link) to be the preferred connection?

I went for a
job interview with apple.............never again, quite possibly the most ridiculous, demeaning thing I've ever been through, they dont vet interviewees for product knowledge or even a general understanding of computers..... they simply asked me and a couple of other people as a group to 'sell' them a bowl of fruit which was placed in front of us.....

Slow running - it could actually be carrying out the CRON jobs (auto routine admin) how long has the problem existed?
If it persists and assuming its an Intel Mac repair permissions from Disk Utility and then reset the SMC if it persists (google it from Apple's site I don't have the link to hand).
Also, do you have a Mac at home? If so you could screen share via iChat and
look at her Mac ...

update - well it seems parallels 4 lets me associate .
nzb files with newsleecher, so when I download them in OSX and double click, it launches parallels and newsleecher. So thats a start
woudl be nice to have something OSX native though I suppose

I bought mine for £45 on e-bay and I would have thought that speaking to Apple would give better results than speaking to someone from
John Lewis.

Honestly it gets worse: mail which has never been marked as Junk can end up in there too. I can only assume that Mail is discriminating not only on the address but possibly on the mailservers it routes through? Anyway for whatever reason it sometimes marks even contacts in the Address Book as junk and sometimes it lets Junk through as regular mail - and vice versa. It was very
bad for me ...
