If your amp is say 30watts into 4ohms then it would be 15watts into 8ohms basically. As for power on battery etc. then not a lot.

Yes it does. May be dependent on model of head unit of course. Mine displays textual tags but no artwork.
Not tried a hard drive but works with
USB memory stick.
I think the main consideration with a hard drive would be getting enough juice to it to power it.

All I can offer is for that sort of money, the speakers you will be getting will need to be run from an amp just to get anything out of them. You could try without an amp but this can damage the speaker as not enough power will be getting to them.
Don't know i Pioneer have improved from a few years back but I remember they were really only for drop-in like-for-like replacements of standard ...

I would recommend that the way you mentioned is the best way. The link for the headrest monitors are pretty good. Look on ebay, there are lots on there for sale for around £200.00, I would not pay more than that including postage. They are decent quality, and do
everything you want, the newers one even play nes games which come with it and if you pay about £35.00 more you can get the headphones ...
