This is a very, very good buy if you like horns. I would go for the vtf-1 given your preferences and room size. I think you will be pleased spending the extra dough Ron

I own a few different brands, but most are polk and I've been a long time owner/fan. Own : -rti38's -csi40 -fxi50's -rt7's -cs245i Ever since I've owned my rt7's I've loved the polk sound, especially on vocals and acoustical instruments.. non-fatiguing.. That midrange.. mmm. mmm... The rti38's are close, but I still think the old rt7's may sound the best still. Havn't really had the cash for ...

I would start with looking for auditions from your favorite pick of the ID companies out there or heading out to your local audio shop and get a feel for the sound you like, ie. forward, laid back, smooth, bright etc. Once you start listening to various speakers you will get to understand what these terms mean. Once you have an idea of the sound you like you can start to narrow the field down to ...

My limited knowledge is this. Have close friend who plays in a band that I have worked with. For a time, his band as well as another acquaintance used Bose 802s. Their opinions were the same. Decently smooth vocal reproduction, but you'd better have the bucks and the power requirements for additional speakers, cause they aren't stand alone by any means. They're speakers that did not stay (band ...

Has anyone owned the Jamo E680 they seem pretty nice looking but am unble to try them out...B&H in new York has them but they don't have a listening room. I am considering the Energy C500's but would love to know hoe they compare. Anyone own Jamo? Not popular in the states even though they have good write-ups...hope this thread is not dead.

You guys are great! Thanks for the input. I will get the center and upgrade my receiver. Now does anyone have a recommendation for decent $500-$600 receiver that is a good match for a Monitor Audio Silver 5i's? Or is there not much differentiation between receivers in this price range? I'm guessing my best bang-for-the-buck will probably be another Onkyo, a Yamaha, or a Denon as that is all I ...

CV wont get a lot of love in many HT forums. I have never heard them so can't say what they would be like compare to other brands. Rule of thumb is to spend more on your speaker than your receiver. Buying the best receiver in the world and cheap speakers won't improve sound quality. You are better off with a cheap receiver and good speakers. With that said, what is your budget for ...

My first B&W purchase was a pair of 602's. I used them in my straight 2.0 setup with a Carver CM-1090 integrated amp and an Onkyo DX-C390 CD changer. I was extremely happy with the sound. If I hadn't had any money for an upgrade, I would have been fine with that as the 602's were good enough to enjoy for the rest of my life. Since I did have some extra cash (in ...

Please take my review with a giant grain of salt. I'm in rental home for a few months while our new home is being built. I've got a very sloppy setup in the basement of the rental with an atrocious sound setup. I have no treatments at all, and placement is much less than ideal. I've got about 6 hours of use on them. And even in 6 hours they have warmed up quite a bit. The first couple ...
