CMS and 10 pt adjustment. I think the original DVE has full color fields, and there should be others. I use a generator for these types of measurements, though. Then I use a DVD to confirm black level and a few other things. I wouldn't sweat the blue, though. It's the least critical color when doing CMS, and it's likely to have a lot of variation from one meter to the next.

Finally saw the 551 at BJs today. Pretty impressive for the price, not adjusted or calibrated, and under harsh lighting conditions. The 471 next to it looked pretty good too.

I have the Blu-Ray version - will go through it again. Maybe I missed a full screen Primary Colour pattern. I also suspect, the HD colour bar, despite requesting 1080P, may only be a 701 or 601 pattern and not 1080P. (Any real difference?) Have found a couple of other calibrating DVDs that I purchased a while back that might have the patterns. I have the Chroma5 Meter but unfortunately at $680 for the generator and $479 for an Enthusist licence...

Oh another thing... Make sure they will warranty The Sony Outlet Refurb units if you are going to go that route. I saw some verbage on their website to the contrary but didn't contact them since the Sony coverage was in the same ball park.

Tell me the following:
1. The "Model" you have.
Samsung LN-S4051D 40" LCD
2. What convinced you to purchase this particular model.
Won it as Grand Prize in the "Doritos Win A HDTV" contest. They gave away 300.
3. What you like best about your LCD.
DNIe... and that it was FREE!
4. What you don't like about your LCD.

Weird that a non XVT model would feature the LED backlighting with local dimming (the only way I know of to approach that contrast ratio on an LCD), and both the 550XVT and the 470M as well as the smaller 420M all feature it. That would be fantastic news, as I don't want a huge panel, but was looking at the 550 just to get local dimming.

The 70" panel mass-production begins now - look at the Samsung Global Site - it´s a fact! Not possible with the old 8G plants and not possible with AUO/CMO as a mass production ! There must be a new plant. Only with the 11G plant Samsung can produce 70" in mass...

So I got the latest HD/DVR box from Comcast and through the HDMI the lip sync is still off. I am using component now and that works well enough. I am trying to like this tv but I paid some good money to have to settle for component. Calling LG is well and all but they just give you a ticket number and say we will contact you when they have an update.
So far most of the people that I have ...

Was wondering about the color adjustments for this TV (toshiba 40RV525U). I have 2 LCDs, both Vizios. And the thing I like about the Vizio is the many picture adjustments. My parents have a Panny Plasma, and I can't ever seem to get the picture just right as there is not individual RGB color adjustments available.
Because of this it weighs heavy in my choice for my next LCD. Was hoping that ...

I believe this is a Honeywell branded Soyo TV. Soyo is went bust earlier this year. You might want to check into the warrenty situation.
My guess is that in two weeks when the holiday sales really start to kick in you'll have some really nice sets at the same price point.

What gamma controls does the XBR8 have?? But it may be a review mistake. On the 111, the HDGURU used gamma one (sub 2.00 gamma) instead of 2, which has a 2.20-2.24 gamma (or close).

that's the same price as the 65" Xs1. But is it RGB LED LCD though? Or is it just LED LCD?
