Probably my cheap Vizio 37" 1080P then. The XDE settings on the Tosh probably mask its deficiency somewhat.

Rick88, I wish i would have read this thread earlier. I just picked up the Oppo 981 for $75 from my friend. I would have definitely give you $75 for the Elite. I'd love to have my SACD and DVDA music sent to my Elite receiver over HDMI. I just hate to ask my friend for my money back. That's not my style. Thanks, Joe

In fact it is.... Pioneer KRP-500A performance on SD mode is the most spectacular i ever seen. It is in pair with the old CRT's, if not better... as in CRT's you couldn't have a screen as wide and big as this one with that can combine the best performance available in SD/HD modes. Every day that goes by it impresses me more... and in fact there is something i didn't test but i will soon... I'm using the HLD X9 with...

I guess that is actual resolution (expressed as horizontal lines). "Upscaling to 1080" refers only to vertical ones - no player will increase actual horizontal resolution (would need pixel-based interpolation). Upscalling is not increasing the existing quality of the image, it just makes it "fit" easyer.

Cool. Thanks for the info. Is the T2 chip the same as what's being used now
in the 5910 and external scalers coming out? (I don't know if they share
the same "chip" or features).

Would anyone say this is a worthwhile upgrade if I currently use a Sony DVPNS70H? It will hooked up to a 60XBR2.

Pioneer DV 410 ?
I'm trying to install a Xantech IR emitter to the front panel of my DV-410 DVD player, but I can't find where the IR "eye" is on the player. Can someone tell me exactly where on the front panel the eye is?

I think you need to think about replacing it with a new one.

You should check out Josh Z's site as he directly address the issue of LaserDisc on digital displays.
You may be able to find satisfaction, but it is going to cost, big time (you'll need the upper tier of LD player and VP).
You didn't mention what player and VP you're using.
