Does the machine idle? When in neutral, and you give it gas, can you rev the motor up fine?

i definitly recomend a new header and with 11-1 on a 400 u might be able to get away with 93 but ur better blending with race gass to around 105 and port works a great idea especialy with a cam and big bore seein as ur flowing more in and out

Yeah, the local weld shop guy offered to try to patch it up until i get my new header. Does it damage the motor to ride it with a crack in it?

I would unplug the fan, and jump some leads over from the battery directly to it. I would think maybe you got some dirt in the carb somehow or the ECM definetly would kill it too. Controls the ignition I'm sure, that would explain the brief cool down and then it re-fired. Not too familar with the Polaris so just shooting some ideas. Oh, correct battery voltage is 13.6 to 13.2. Anything below will signify weakness in the cell pack, 12.8 ~...

I actually like to run a precharger over my UNI for the simple fact I dont use a air box lid plus I feel that it keeps the filter cleaner and doesnt give up much flow you dont have to but you wont have to clean them as fast either

300ex pipe i currently have a White Bros. E-Series slip on and it is really loud with the stock header because it is so damn small. does anyone have a header pipe that i can buy that will fit with the slip on and is relativly cheap? thanks

Thanks man, Ok, so i think i'll put the air filter in, then run it around and see how my plug looks. It's a 152 main right now so it might be lean after the slip-on and air filter. If it's lean, i'll change the main jet to a 155 without changing anything else. Then we will see how it runs...... do you think adjusting the main jet like this will affect my idle and 1/4 throttle? should i go ahead and turn the a/f screw out...

the main will have no effect on the lower stuff, so you will have to do the rest also. I would start with getting the pilot right then the needle then the main. you can idle it for a while with a new plug to check the pilot, then do the needle at about 1/2 throttle, and the main at WOT all with new plugs. you can try to turn the f/a out a bit more to see if that helps idle and such too. steve

i would definetly buy a good exhaust header to go with the bigbore kit. 11:1 to would you will need a mix of race and pump fuel to be safe. getting the head reworked is a good idea too, but maybe not a must as long as everything was fine before you tore it down. maybe some upgraded valve springs would be good at the least. the rest of your mods are fine...

No, the head and cam must be removed to change the piston.

I believe the jets are the same but the needle is different in the new ones. it is not adjustable anymore. It may be a different size also, i have never really heard a definitive decision on it. What kind of elavation are you at? I ran a 138 DJ with my t-4 and k&n at about 1500 ft. I will look and see what the exact conversion is to keihin. steve

Were you running the same fuel. Or did you add something different? What did you do to it when you repaired it?

I'd first check that battery and your ground to the chasis. 13.2 volts should be the lowest, the charging systems on quads are very small and take a long time to recover. Battery tenders can save you much money down the long road, in my opinion. Second, how long since you rode it previously, could have a clogged main that you freed up, 3rdly, check the fuses for the fan then if you have...
