19-square-mile chunk of ice breaks loose from Arctic ice shelf in Canada's far north AP September 4, 2008 TORONTO -- A chunk of ice shelf nearly the size of Manhattan has broken away from Ellesmere Island in Canada's northern Arctic, another dramatic indication of how warmer temperatures are changing the polar frontier, scientists said Wednesday. I expect we will just see a deepening of the evidence in support of anthropogenic global warming. Of course ideologues will find a way to politicize and twist scientific data no matter what the evidence.

Nice hypothesis -whether it is true or not will take time to determine. However, what happened then is not in any way proof that anthropogenic global warming is not taking place now.

http://news.aol.com/article/huge-ice-shelft-breaks -loose-in-canada/158568 Nobody who reads this latest research can doubt global warming. The speed of the breakup of the poles is frightening. there is no time left to sit around and debate with idiots.

The fiercest storms, like Gustav, coming more often; scientists see global warming's effect AP August 31, 2008 Global warming has probably made Hurricane Gustav a bit stronger and wetter, some top scientists said Sunday, but the specific connection between climate change and stronger hurricanes remains an issue of debate. The Atlantic is seeing an increase in storms ...

Dip has been posting several excerpts from a recent pseudoscience book called " Unstoppable Global Warming Every 1500 Years," by Dennis Avery and Fred Singer. Note that the two make their claim in a popular book, not in a peer-reviewed journal. First of all, I did not imply in any way, or form that the poles melted "completely"...but they had been melting, and melted at a pace faster than they have these days, more so because temperatures during past warmings such as the Roman and Medieval were far greater than the current warming. Nice try, i guess The Greens are getting better and better in taking comments out of context ...
