The 5870 HD x2 looks good in some things and average in others lol. I think drivers need a lot more work lol. That and my pore CPU is a bottleneck from H.E.L.L !

I tested dimms and channels and they are all good . the memory is brand new, and all sticks work in all slots, but not when All 4 are in at the same time

Also a much newer architecture, even if it were TWO cores, it would still wipe the floor with the old 4800+. the 620, no doubt.

Check out my sig for bios settings on a 4.0GHz overclock.

Hmm.....very interesting!!! I have a 550 in another comp oc'ed at 3.7GHz via the CPU multiplier, but no unlocked cores. My official 550 specification data sheet states the max. Vcore voltage for the 550 is 1.425v (not 1.45v). You can probably run at 1.45v on an everday basis, but I wouldn't push it any higher. I read somewhere that the 940 (Phenom II) can take NB voltage up to 1.50v. But ...

Have you tried to RMA the videocard? Most ATI partners i believe have a warranty longer then 6 months, so you shouldnt have a problem with that. Who makes the 4870?

Make sure the ram voltages are set according to the sticker on the side of the chip. If they already are, try bumping up the NB voltage one notch and see if that helps.

Well, first off, Heka is the codename for your chip, meaning it is a tri-core CPU. In your case, it also means you have the Deneb die with one core disabled. "Deneb" is the name for the quad-core die. The Deneb core has L3 cache, same as your Heka. The difference between the two tri-cores that AMD has in their 45nm line-up is the presence or lack-there-of L3 cache. Have you tried unlocking ...

All depends, what will you be using it for? Also why buy a PC pre made using 2 to 3 year old tech man ? If it was me I would build a ultra low power consumption with some ballz system like the Athlon II 240 or 250. Suspect you can MAKE better your self or have one contracted to be made with custom 3rd and 4th quarter 2009 tech. That's my two cents worth. Vista isn't the way to ...
