Problem with new build
Published (2009-12-23 04:19:00)
Well, I was able to get on a friends computer and got the new BIOS onto a flash drive. Loaded the new BIOS, Windows 7 went in without a hitch. The only real problem was after I instaled CCC for the GPU it screwed with the audio out on HDMI. So I rolled the drivers for HDMI audio back to the original driver, and its all working flawlessly. I've played a couple hours of Civ 4 with no problem and just watched a movie. Thank you all for your...

Pentiums are dual core, the AMD system I recommended is QUAD core. Can you post your PSU's 12v amperages if you have some time? Sorry, but I don't know what's the first setup you mention and the price difference (more than, less than).

According to Newegg, both the Kingston & Corsair are out of stock! Here's what I would recommend with lower (CAS 7) timings: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820146871

It is an Antec Perfomance Smart Power model SL400 400W 0utput. I took a picture of the label along with a picture of what I believe to be the 6 pin plug you mentioned and the case.

Yeah i'm not getting it until I get my tax return money, so the out of stock really doesn't effect me yet. Why would you go with the 1600 over the 1800 or even 2133, if money was no issue that is.

Welcome You don't need that adapter. just look far a card that has S-video connection (and most do) thay will also come with a S-video to component adapter. So you don't have to use the DVI

All Athlon XP cpu's only supported MMX, SSE, and Enhanced 3DNow! so you'll be wanting to upgrade to a newer machine. Give the guys a budget and they'll make good suggestions.

Well, your GPU fan should definitely be spinning. What brand is your videocard? (Visiontek, XFX, etc) Do you have/can you borrow some PCIe GPU to test if it works? I'm suspicious that the problem might be either: -2nd GPU also faulty or -MOBO not giving any electricity to the GPU (PCIe slot is bad or something); or the GPU not being fully inserted.

1) You can, though probably not at maximum nor at even medium in some games. 2) With that graphics card, no. 3) No, it's Nvidia only. 4) Got to ASUS webpage and find for yourself 5) 2GB would be better, 4GB if you had a Phenom + better graphics card.

If this is your mobo you'd be looking like a dual core Opteron 170 for a worthwhile upgrade if you on a single core (and those Optys are preety clockable as far as 939 chips goes hehe) Alternatively bid adieu to DDR platforms and 'warp' speed to the world of DDR3 platforms on the cheap with

Since you are not overclocking the 945 will do but if I were you I'll get the 720 since games won't really utilize the four cores. What's your budget BTW?

Well for a gaming rig - you would be in this same situation later down the road when games like GTA4 and Dragons Origins which kindda bullies all/any dual cores become the norm so my suggestion is: 1.Reuse your DDR2 RAMs and all/any other h/w that are operational 2. Get an entry level AM2+ motherboard like this one It even has a BIOS available to run the new C3 965BE 3. Hit an entry ...
