I've got a 720BE running at stock (2.8Ghz) on a Gigabyte MA780G-UD3H motherboard with 4GB Kingston Hyper-X DDR2 1066Mhz RAM (running at 800Mhz). When I turn on the PC, I get two beeps but I couldn't say that they meet any of the combinations listed in the manual, such as one long then one short, which indicates a motherboard/memory fault. They seem about the same length but the second one is higher in pitch. Sometimes the PC fails to...

965 C2 Overclock

That is wierd, but I would't worry about it. Did you get it to run stable at 4.0Ghz ? You know if you lower the cpu multiplier to X19 or X19.5 then you can bump up the HT ref clock. This in turn will bump every thing else up. like your ram, HT link, CPU/NB speed and you'll gett better performance. Also bump up the PCIe speed then go in to the CCC and overclock that 4890. Thats were the 4890 shines

Phenom IIx4 955 BE Issue
Published (2009-12-20 20:16:00)
Error code 124 is hardware related and usually points to the CPU. Whenever I get a bad CPU overclock, I get the BSOD 124 error code. This is why I highly recommend running a different CPU to determine if the 955 is defective or not. I hope you talked to wife about throwing out the original boxes...grrrrrrrr!

Confirm the driver version in the device manager for your graphic adapter. It should be dated for like last month. If, it is not then the drivers did not install properly and you will need to manually uninstall then there and reinstall them again.....I had to do this as well. Also, there is a hot fix released already for CCC v9.12 that you should also install.... Link to HF ...the driver version with this HF installed will be for this month...Dec

Looked - that's not the problem... In the end I gave AMD a call and they just said to ship it in for a replacement - very impressed! On the one hand it's not a crippling problem and I'm not 100% sure it is a faulty CPU myself, but on the other I doubt they'll have any original Phenoms left around so it'll probably be replaced by a Phenom 2 with the lower power requirements so the problem should go away. Well impressed...

AMD Phenom II x4 955 locks up
Published (2009-12-22 14:33:00)
Just for information, I believe I have resolved the problem. When I ran a stress test with Prime95 the system locked up immediately. I raised the DRAM voltage from default of 1.5 to 1.65, left the CPU voltage on AUTO. The system is stable during the stress test.

First regarding the memory.. Look at the label in the memory, it should say the timings and volts to use... Regarding you VGA drivers i would use the previous one 190.62, or look into nvidia website for the newest one... Lots of user with the 191.07 drivers were having issues just like the one you mention, other reported problems with there Cards after using these drivers, ... I myself had artifacting problems when i installed the 191.07, and...

I would recommend the Xigmatek HDT-S1283. I have done a lots of analysis in selecting the aftermarket cooler for my rig. The HDT-S1283 is the best bang for buck among all choices apart from its being easy to install.
However, I do not have a big case so I chose its little brother HDT-S964 which is just an exact fit to my case. But in any case. its doing good for my X3 720BE. It managed to ...

Hello,
at what speed is your CPU-Fan running?
I think, that BIOS reads CPU-tems and Overdrive takes the Core-Temps.

Welcome to the Forum,
bump up your CPU voltage to 1.42v and see if the lock up's stop the 1.7 bios is a little flaky.
The ram you have is for intel rigs as well and it may give you trouble.
Have you ran memtest?

First of all, what operating system are you running?
And secondly, why aren't you running IE8?
IE8 is a vast improvement over previous versions!!!
Also, by chance, is your GPU overclocked?

Are you saying you're NOT using the stock heatink/fan that came with the 955?
Did you update your ASRock bios to the version (or later) that supports the 955?
Disable any and all CPU Fan control in the bios as well.

More than likely a motherboard or bios setting problem.
Highly unlikely that it's a defective CPU, but it is possible.
I would suggest the following:
1. Clear the CMOS by moving the jumper pin and removing the battery for about 30 min.
2. The try to run all stress test with everything set at default/auto in the bios.
3. If you still have the problem, install an older X2 CPU and test it ...

Welcome to the forum!
You didn't clarify, which Phenom II X4 do you have?
Unless they provide it for free, you don't need an updated bios chip.
Upon first post of your new build, just update the bios through the ASUS bios update utility (in the bios).
You may need the bios update to run some of the newer X4 CPU's, no getting around that!
Look up CPU support for your ASUS mobo and ...
