Can anyone advise whether or not the Diema official card will work in the Darkbox SD2008? I believe this is Cryptowork encryption and I've only previously used the Conax encrypted Digitalb card. If not what is the best receiver to consider with a suitable cam? Anyone with knowledge who can assist it would be appreciated.

The 0v of the PSU is connected to the case so when connected to any equipment with a 3 core mains lead it will be connected to earth via the other equipment. Don't think I've ever seen a satellite receiver that was not made this way, they all have two core mains cables.

That's hardly "rewiring" it's just a matter of changing a plug. Of course it's ok. I've done it and so have hundreds of others.

A usb-serial convertor will not work (or at least I believe no-one has got one to work). You are probably better off getting an old pc with windows xp and a proper serial port. You will get a null-modem cable for a few quid from any satellite retailer or on fleabay. If you want the actual pinout just search for null modem pinout in Google Image search.
