I had a sporty, and a shovel also. The Sportster was an 883, first year for the evo. Handling, and ergos were a bit awkward, 80 mile range was silly. Lots of money fixed those problems, but no way to fix the excess vibration, and I never could get used to it. On the positive side, it was quite reliable, and IMHO it is the perfect size motorcycle. The shovel was a AMF era FLT. I really liked it even though reliability was horrible. It felt...

AFAIK, You can't mix and match the chains/tensioners. Maybe the Andrews conversion would be a good way to go. http://www.andrewsproducts.com/motor..._Conv_cams.htm Murf2

Well it looks the same but it does have this " Even more spontaneous and direct response with optimum dosage of power and significantly improved load change behaviour"

Not sure I understand this one. I thought you raced on Sunday to sell on Mon.
But if there is nothing to sell on Mon...
No doubt a lot more to the story than we will know until later.

In my case its a kick back for all the ignorant bastards on bike twice as old as mine with a fraction of the miles and 130 sqaure feet of gleaming chrome asking me when I'm going to "get a real bike" knowing good and damned well that Mr. Cubical Jockey that is dressed up like a demented viking on acid can't change his own brakes much less do any real work to his bike.
That was civil...right?

Different strokes for different folks. There isn't a do-it-all bike that everyone will like, imo. I love the versatility, simplicity, and character of the Triumph modern classics, personally. I think if you had to do the "Adventure" DS bit, the Scrambler could be a great do-it-all bike.
I'm sure most will say bikes like the strom and versys. But those aren't my cup of tea at all.

For the price, the Scrambler is a great bike. Especially as a second bike!
