Do Singles Keep More Memorabelia?

I enjoyed it too! It also made me think about something that I suggested to the people at the nursing home. They had the names of residents in holders outside their doors, so I suggested that they take a photo of them now (not a bad security measure either), and ask the families to provide a photo of the person when they were young adults or in their prime, and post those photos side by side, next to their names.   It's...

Being single, just wondering if you are hosting an event for the Holidays. Or, are you invited to someone's house for an event. If you are invited out, is it a single person doing the inviting or a married couple? Or maybe you think the Holidays are no big deal and just have no plans. For me, I am hosting a dinner party Saurday for friends (3  married couples), my son & myself. For...

I have been invited to dinner given by a couple and a party given by a couple. I plan on attending both. I have a friend staying in the area so I asked both couples if I could bring my friend (a single woman). Both couples said yes but my friend got invited to another event given by a family. She is going to that event. I am attending my events alone.

Can we retire a old subject?
Published (2009-12-08 23:53:00)
As I was setting here reading the posts that have been being received from all the subjects of the forum, it dawned on me that there might ought to be a way to retire a thread that we start.  Not get rid of it necessarily, but where do they go?   I make sure that I read all the posts from the threads that I have started and I do read all the messages of everyone elses threads that I get into. Do they just...

I certainly understand that we do not need suggestive pictures or text. On the other hand, I did not get to see the naked man, and as a single woman, never married ........... hmmm! I take advantage of cheap thrills! Ha! Ha! Just kidding. We are having problems with Bikini Barista stands out here in the Seattle area and folks are going crazy. They are now trying to get them rezoned as adult entertainment. People see folks dressed the same at...

Hi Astrea,    There is nothing to apologize for. I have many more female friends than male and while they predominately don't condemn men as a specie a lot of them are less than happy with them from long marriages, divorces, or working with them. It is my brand of humor and not in anyway to be interpreted as a generalization as I do seriously steer away from stereotypes and generalizations which prevents individual...

Old Friends - Keeping in Touch
Published (2009-12-10 17:07:00)
I had a friend in the early 80's and we were close for a couple years then drifted apart.    She came and stayed with me for a week and  I found for myself anyway.....that we didn't have much in common any longer.   I  didn't especially enjoy her company the way I once did.     We exchange Christmas Cards and that's...

Both my children and my parents live far away, and all are in different states. We had our family celebration during the Thanksgiving holiday because travel is so dicey this time of year. Many times over the years, my children and I spent Christmas Eve night in a motel somewhere in the middle of nowhere because of unexpected ice and closed roads. I told my children not to ...

Well, since my divorce was final on June 22 of this year, getting my name changed back was the 1st thing on my mind. I was 45 when I was married and figured I had had my maiden name far longer than my married name and my maiden name was who I AM...I could see if I was younger and had children, keeping the married name would be easier for them. Changing your name is not easy. Lots of paperwork...

To my knowledge, they just hang out there in limbo, and a new member could go back & resurrect them by responding. As a Group Owner, I keep all of my saved & sent messages, periodically having to check older ones. AARP says they keep everything, but when I was looking for one going back to September of this year, when I found the message & opened it, I just got a big "Oops" message...

I would think that the opposite is more likely. For example, I used to take very few photographs, and sometimes it took years before I printed them out, because I didn't have anyone to share them with. With the advent of digital cameras, and sites such as Webshots, Picassa, Photobucket etc. I take more photos and post them on line. I haven't ...

I think each one of us has to decide what we truly want in life. I am not a big believer in "it will happen when you least expect it." I am single but enjoy having someone in my life. Therefore I actively look for someone. Join activities where men with similar interests may be, participate in groups where you might meet men with similar values. For me, it is worth the time and effort. I don't ...

Good Topic! Since I bought my new house this summer, I kind of think that everything I do in it, is something of a "gift" for myself. So at this point, I feel a little guilty buying myself something especially for the holidays, when I've been buying all this other stuff .. home theater, couch, bed, dinette set, guest bedroom set, light fixtures, mirrors, etc. I did want to get ...

Good for you, deewee49, for recognizing that you were in a rut and for working to get yourself out of it! I think being in a rut is part of life. Life has its ups and downs just like a rollercoaster. But the rollercoaster is the best ride in any amusement park. When it comes to life, the trick is to recognize you are in a rut and want to do something about it....
