Thanks for all the info! I was wondering if they wanted a t-shirt worn vs. a sweatshirt so they see the form better. It is going to be quite cold, so I assume I can dress weather-appropriate.

They will probably want to see your upper arms for the push ups, but the pft administrator will let you know so I guess just dress in layers. Mine was on a fairly warm morning, so most were in shorts and a t-shirt anyway, plus it was very windy and it had just finished raining. We met outside on the track, then went inside and did our sit up's, then went back to the track for the 300m, push up's and 1.5. Then we went back inside for...

Re: the sf-86, just download the form off the net and start filling it in. To be sure start at your 18th birthday. It will give you something to do while you wait for other things. On top of that it's always good to keep a copy to reference and have for background updates. All my previous 86s and an 85 have saved me tons of time with various backgrounds.

For those in the pipeline you may find a bit of interest in this post. A US Senator from NY is sponsoring a bill that will add an emphasis on Firearms Trafficking. In the bill she makes a pitch to hire 1500 new agents and investigators. If this bill were to pass, even it watered down to 750 agents and investigators, that could end up with 300 to 400 new Special Agents and 300 to 400 investigators. ATF hasn't grown in size in many years,...

Hey people I have a quick question: If I take a non federal law enforcement job as a GS 12 how would that effect things if I was hired by DEA? Would I keep my GS 12 or would I come in as a GS 7 at a higher step? Or would it not effect things at all? Thanks for the help.

How many announcements a year does ICE have for entry level Special Agent recruiting? I keep seeing people post about 08 group 1, 2, & 3, and they got me all confused. I tested off the June 22 09 announcement, so I know that will make me a 09 tester, but is there a specific group?

Guess I am not sure what's going on. I received that email a few days ago stating I was not selected to move on in the process. Then today my status was updated on usajobs.gov from "better qualified applicants" back to "application under review." I will just ride it out, but already expect/know the worst case scenario. On a better note, had my medical done today for IRS-CI. At least have a TO ...

More so than other federal LE agencies, FBI pretty much spells out what critical skills they want: http://www.fbijobs.gov/1112.asp (they keep this web page updated, too). Also, the FBI's top 10 priorities spell out what order they want what skill sets: http://www.fbi.gov/hq.htm
