I am glad you found a good oil you like, but that is too rich for my blood...try Mobil1 15w-50 from Wal-mart....if you can tell a difference let me know...I couldn't...I even tried the famed AMSOIL 10w-40.....no difference...I wish I had sent the oil out for tests but maybe that is getting out of hand...

You can use the 5W-40 Rotella-T in your bike without issue. Many have been using it for years without problem. It is a good oil. Is it as good as Amsoil or Mobil-1? I don't know but if it's not it's pretty darn close. It is not a "motorcycle specific" oil and yes it is marketed for diesel engines. As far as 5W-40 not being 'thick' enough you've nothing to worry about. The lower number is the...

Published (2009-01-02 05:42:00)
Now I know, I'm sorry, the oil topic has been beaten to death and I should have known better. I even read all of the oil threads around here but when I went out shopping for oil I could only find this castrol synthetic ( http://www.castrol.com/castrol/produ...tentId=6030793 ) in the correct weight, 10w - 40. So I bought this AND put it in the bike before I realized they made special motorcycle oil. My question is: will this be okay for my...

"full synthetic" does not necessarily mean 100% synthetic,, often companies fool you because they mix 100% synthetic with regular oil and call it "full synthetic' Try Repsol 4T 10W-40 100% synthetic racing oil, it is 'liqued sex' (quoted from knightslugger LOL)

So I'm almost sure this topic has been covered numerous times but the search option wasn't helping me much. Some of you may or may not know that I'm somewhat new to this whole bike scene and I'm troubled cause I'm due for an oil change in about 500-1000 more miles. Question is what type of oil should I use for my '04? How many quarts am I suppose to use? And would a place like Cycle Gear carry ...

The other day I went out to the garage and just sat on my bike thanks to the snow on the ground outside. While I was just sitting there I heard a dripping sound and looked down at the ground and saw that some antifreeze and water had leaked out from somewhere. So I pulled off both side fairings, but I couldn't find a leak of any kind. So I was wondering, since it is kinda cold in the garage if...
