Hmmm, to be fluffy maybe command squad or vanguard squad. Vanguard would greatly benefit with the 1+ attacks. But they eat up points like crazy. If you have the point to spare, take 3 more combi-flamer for each sternguard squad to chew up infantry. The idea of drop pod doesn't seem fluffy. The crimson fist lost almost all of their fleet because they couldn't support them anymore.

So, I've played two test games and this list has done extremely well. First game was against Tau, Annihilation. My opponent was boarded while I lost a Tac Squad, a Sternguard squad, and the Ironclad. I'm still iffy about the Ironclad, it just seems to die in my opinion. The second game was against Eldar, Capture and Control and it was a tie. If it was Annihilation, I would have won overwhelmingly because he lost 3 Serpents,...

Help against Dark Eldar?

Glad it worked out for you! Landspeeders are cool, but my DE opponent always tried to nuke mine because of their speed and firepower. Just my thoughts on the three types of Speeder: Cheap - keep it barebones and inconspicuous, then dart at the last moment. Having one gun also gives it a greater movement for no loss of firepower. The best thing about a Speeder with just a single Heavy Bolter is that it'll accomplish practically...

Marines aren't going to lose by a wide enough margin for it to matter much, and if they had the squad is usually as good as dead anyway.

Basically most Imperial players will add in a Inquisitor with 2 Mystic's generally in a chimera. Costs right around 100 pts or so(people generally add psychic hoods as well for more awesomeness) Basically anything that deepstrikes within 4d6 inches of this chimera will allow any 1 unit(within 12'' of the chim) a free shot at the deepstrikers right as they enter play. I'm sure you can imagine what a few...

Space Marine named heroes
Published (2009-11-27 03:05:00)
OK i think i know who i want now. Vulkan Seems to be about the best and his 'Chapter tactics rule' doesn't really add/change rules to make things complicated  Incidentally I've started a new thread of an experimental list with Vulkan in. See if it is actually any good. http://www.40konline.com/community/index.php?topic=192836.0 But thanks for the help with the named heroes everyone. Its greatly appreciated

Help against Dark Eldar?

Thanks for the help Sheepz. I just played the list with a 4 ML Devastator Squad instead of the Vindicator and it went really well. We played pitched battle objectives. I got first turn and popped his incubi transport and shot a warrior unit to pieces with the ML's. A lot of my guns didn't have enough range to shoot in this first turn. Next turns I destroyed 3 more vehicles and shot all his wyches. I really thought...

Quote from: Kuma on November 27, 2009, 01:22:16 PM I would drop the heavy weapon in the tactical squads since you want them in the rhino moving around, claiming and denying troops choices objectives. They will be moving and rapid firing so the heavy bolter doesn't fit that stance. In my experience the free twin-linked MM shot from rhino squads is excellent.  Don't turn down free heavy weapons.  The mistake...

Sternguard are quite good in combat thanks to their high base attacks, plus with Kantor in the middle of the army you should slap anything short of uber combat units without too much issue I'd have thought. The dread is a good option, and so are terminators. Alternatively consider putting some troops on the ground to hold objectives and annoy people, scouts are really good for this as they can set up in position and given ranged...

Well, the Honor Guard is rather expensive. I'd reconsider putting PK into a Sternguard Pod. I'd take 5 combi-meltas per Sternguard unit. In this way, the unit can be combat squadded with one unit getting the c-meltas. The 6th c-melta seems redundant. Power weapons are rather expensive for what they can achieve. I'd drop the p-weapons in the Tactical units and give the Sternguard power fists.

The librarian's Might of the Ancients power is wasted against dark eldar, as the dark archon will school the librarian regardless of his power being successful or not. And just to warn you, Those warriors will most likely be packing two dark lances, which means your dreadnoughts will have to be VERY lucky to survive for very long. Don't be scared of engaging him in close combat. Wychs can ...

Not much to criticise for now (Since you're going "friendly"). One thing I see that I think will cause problems is the low number of combi-meltas in the sternguard squad. Bump that number up to 4 and you'll have a fair chance to down armor you aim at. 2 is a sneeze at your enemy, and you want a hurricane, not a breeze.

I'm not a vet at all but I like the list! I think your sergeants could use some power fists or power weapons. It is generally agreed they are worth their points. What is also generally agreed on by the folks on this forum is that the TL Lascannon upgrade for the Razorback is not worth is points. For just 10 points more you have a Predator with AC & HB's. Since you have a lot op high strength ...
