The Taylor scale works by Bioimpedance. Basically it sends an eletrical signal through your body. It can only travel where there is water, and there is only one tissue type that can not hold water. Fat. So the greater your lean mass, the greater your water. but you could also see a water % rise , because of TOM, Salt intake...etc. my water is usually 36-40. It goes up to 42 around TOM.

Mine is very skittish. Lately, I've been focusing on the trends and patterns, so this post couldn't have happened at a better time! Lessee... I lose 1-1.5 lbs every week. The day after I see my new low weight, my weight bounces back to a high. For instance, yesterday was my new low of 152.3. Today, I am 153.8, a weight I haven't seen in 2 weeks. Next week, it will go to maybe 152, but then bounce up again. This also depends on...

It sounds like you're working really hard to get it under control! I have the exact same problems.. my bf is VERY supportive, but he eats a lot of foods that i LOVE & sometimes its really hard to resist.. especially on the weekends when he's home all day (which i love, i just hate knowing its gonna be a battle between what i should eat or what i COULD eat). In fact, i just had to start fresh (again) on monday. I think...

HI TEAM ~ Well just to let you all know...I am not losing any weight with this limited activity Not exactly trying though either I eat the same as if I worked all day...thank goodness I am not a snacker! Angie and I tried to get some miles in at the beach yesterday but my incisions didn't help out We had hoped to get 3+ miles in but I made it only a little over 2. We did have a great day though, had a super carne asada burrito at the...

Yes. Yes. And more yes. That's what you've got to do! You DO need to get back on track - so do so. It's a great place to be! Just hop right back on. Healthy eating begets more healthy...

Dinky, I'm so proud of you! We have very similar stats, and it's cool to someone around my figure being so motivated and doing so well. You sound very happy, and I think that happiness and satisfaction with the slow weight loss will keep you committed to the cause! You are so sensible; and that's awesome. When I weighed in at 250.9 lbs, I almost immediately thought of types of diets where you can lose 20 pounds in 20 days. I...

Thanks for the info on the heartrate monitors and pedometers. That's so interesting. I'm a number cruncher, too, so maybe one day I will get me one. I have another question. This is about rest days from exercise. Someone here mentioned about working out for three days and then taking a day off. I am a member of VF and people talk about having a rest day, but there is no particular explanation of how often, etc. I looked on my...

Echo - feeling better today? I get grumpy too, especially when I know I have to watch my servings. Grrr, why couldn't I have a raging metabolism and just eat and eat and eat?
Woohoo on thread #3! Man, I feel like we've been racing through these threads. It's great, I'm happy that this thread is still alive - it really keeps me on track and I don't think I would've gotten...

Fressca, I can only give you my take on it. Some of it involves, for me, being able to treat myself like a person of value - like I would treat a good friend. If a good friend is down, or wants to eat healthier, we provide encouragement, support, and affection. I used to beat myself up for any tiny slip with a whole lot of negative talk - "you can't do this, you'll just have ...

BNB, what diet are you on exactly? You may need more protein or less carbs. Are you drinking water. Also exercise can make you real hungry. You might want to wait a few weeks then do the walking. I have protein at night. I am on a low/to mid low carb diet and it is the first time ever not being hungry cause I eat every 3 hours. I have to eat so I dont get hungry every 2 1...

Oh Dancinggirl! I've been there! About a year ago, I was weighing in about 5 lbs. away from my goal. Then, a series of difficulties derailed me and one day, turned into a week, one week turned into a month and one month, turned into 8 months. I regained almost 70 lbs. of my hard earned weight loss. It was horrible. Once the spiral began, it was like I was trying to put on ...

Keep in mind you're your own harshest critic. I'll be exstatic when I get that small. And since you are smaller now, another 15 pounds lost is going to look more dramatic than it did at your highest weight. Don't let yourself get discouraged before you've even made it. You can assess whether or not you feel you need to continue once you reach goal. For now, just push for ...

Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry you have to endure this kind of treatment. I don't care what your culture is, it's not fair to judge someone by their appearance. Actually, it's more than unfair. It's cruel. I don't know what it's like in Japan, but here, there are lots of talk shows and general shows (e.g. The Biggest Loser) where mass audiences get to know what it's like to be...

I'd go for a compromise which saves money and doesn't waste food. I'd split the food into portions as soon as I got it home and freeze it. I'd eat the rest on other "cheat days", or your husband could eat the leftovers when he was in the mood since he's so worried about the food going to waste. You might take three weeks to finish off all of the leftovers, but you'd still be ...

South Beach Diet. I "started" in May at 260, but I wasn't really serious (i.e. cheated a lot) until August when I think I weighed about 250. Now I weigh 210 and find the diet VERY easy, I've been losing 10 pounds a month August, Sept, Oct, Nov. I have also been able to add exercise and have gone from a 22W (with muffin top) to a 14W or 16 or 14 (depending on the brand) with ...

I won't see loss for several days. Then, I'll get voraciously hungry and go on a mad veggie-eating spree. The next morning, the scale will drop (a little or a lot -seems to be linked to how hungry I get, lol).
