Red Meat Not a Bad Idea?

Ok, now I feel informed enough to comment on the original post, especially this statement. Quote: Originally Posted by Eating What I Crave women who included red meat in their diet lost more weight. Special K vs. Reeses Puffs?

Cereals are heavily fortified with vitamins which is why they may have a lot of vitamins. It is like adding a vitamin pill to a candy bar basically. I think very few cereals are good for you but there are some that are decent, shredded wheat is pretty decent since it has no added sugars (we buy the Trader Joe's brand). Even the seemingly 'healthy' cereals, really aren't. One of my favorites when I was young was cracklin...

Red Meat Not a Bad Idea?

Kaplods, thank you for pointing out the mistake in my word choice, but I'm aware of the AJCN's position within the Nutritional world. I am also aware that research in general is manipulated by journalists, reporters, editors, etc. to support their case and/or opinion, but I don't think that applies to this bit of information. I was also a skeptic when my nutritionist suggested I add lean red meat to my diet to help add muscle...

I love green tea. I tend to lose water weight when I drink it regularly.

Lean Cuisine Butternut Squash...

I love the butternut squash LC's. I hardly ever buy the meal things anymore...I just buy the paninis, flatbreads, and pizzas. I'll have to start buying the meals again. It surprises me how yummy they are, lol. They're also good for a craving fix (Chinese food, for example). I usually eat a LC every other day for lunch.

Green tea?

I drink green tea almost daily. I can't say if it's helping with my weight loss. Hard to tell, but I know it entertains my stomach for a while so I don't notice hunger as much.

Green tea?

I think drinking any hot liquid will fill you up and make you eat less and therefore aid in weight loss. Green tea does have antioxidants, but so do other types of tea (including black tea). There's no evidence that it burns fat or belly fat in particular. If you enjoy it though, it certainly is a good thing to drink compared to other things like diet sodas.

Saving carcasses for making broth is quite common and is supposed to definitely make superior tasting broth. My mother and sister do it all the time.
But I've never heard that we're supposed to try to get gelatin in our diet.

I don't eat meat but did the study say they lost more weight regardless of calorie intake? I've read that fish and poultry seem to get a 'free pass' and people tend to eat more fish and poultry than they'd eat red meat in the same setting. So people have a tendency, if they are eating red meat, to eat fewer calories due to thinking it is less healthy than chicken which they ...

Some pretty decent Peanut Butter cookies...
Peanut Butter Cookies
1 cup Peanut Butter (My PB reads at about 32 carbs per cup)
1 cup Splenda (Yup, the filler used in splenda has carbs, 24 per cup)
1 egg (essentially 0 carbs)
2 tsp. vanilla extract (0 carbs)
Beat egg and vanilla. Using mixer, blend in ...

I would imagine that it has the same calories as if it wasn't dehydrated. So, if the size of the tomato is 1/2 a cup and you dehydrate it and it's a lot smaller (of course), then the calories would still be the same as if it was not dehydrated, since all you take out is the water and that part has no calories. HTH.
