Orange Signal ?? better than 3
Published (2009-12-09 19:56:00)
While I can believe that they hope to sell it in April, I still don't believe they have a signed and sealed deal yet - otherwise they would announce something official in advance like Vodafone did, to minimize any further losses of people leaving 3 to get the iPhone. The reason why Orange kept their deal secret for almost a year after it was signed was because Apple were hiding from O2 the fact that they were about to lose exclusivity,...

As I have found to my cost, Orange's coverage checker is very inaccurate. Of course, they could be fine where you are as we are in opposite ends of the country. But I ended up getting Orange to drop my tariff down so I could afford a sim-only deal to go back to 3.

I reckon it won't appear until a major network upgrade has completed so my guess will be July/August 2010 at the earliest.

The best way is to try and get hold of a PAYG 3G sim and see what it picks up. Failing that if you order the phone over the net or over the phone you have a 7 day return policy. This does not count if you buy from a high street store. I would advise buying over the phone as the sales people can offer discounts/extras.

Well what you've got to bear in mind is that the coverage in and around Lincoln (and everywhere else in the UK) via Three is also supported by Orange. So if your coverage is poor with Three it's unlikely to be much better with Orange. I have a work colleague who can vouch for Vodafone's coverage in the Lincoln area but you have to speak as you find and it's no good if it doesn't work in your ...

You just need to call Orange (or whichever network you're on) via a land line, and then register. During the process they should ask for your SIM card number, then after it's been registered it works.

This seem to be happening here in Cornwall as well, I get disconnected every 15-20 mins from the 3g mobile internet on Orange. And my sister gets the same, on her GSM mobile phone. We phoned Orange and they told us: "The technicians are working on this problem". Well, I hope they solve the problem asap, because It's driving me crazy.

I would say you're probably stuck to be honest. I also checked the Orange network coverage map to check signal where I lived and where I work. Here's what the coverage checker promised, and what I actually got:- Home - Coverage checker - HSDPA excellent, 3G excellent, 2G excellent Actual - HSDPA intermittent, 3G intermittent, 2G excellent Work - Coverage checker - HSDPA excellent, 3G ...

I take it you've tried switching off and back on? Which error occurs most often? If you get the cannot connect error what is your signal like at the time?

What a complete load of rubbish, your phone should work fine, 3g would be faster but if you dont mind it being a bit slow then it will be fine. Visit http://setuporange.wdsglobal.com/ and send the orange gprs internet settings to your phone, this page does not always work 100% so you might have to visit again another day if the text does not come through, but this should be all you need to ...
