Kinda sounds like your valve body is worn out. The valve body is what controls the flow of trans fluid through certain passages, and if one of the valves has evcessive wear you will have shifting problems like that. I had that go out on my old Saturn and it wasent cheep to fix, but if you find a used one from a salvage yard and do it yourself it wont be too bad. Hope that helps...

Sounds like your only option is to take it in for a smoke test. They fill the evap system with smoke, and wait for it to leak out. There's really no way you can find a small evap leak, it can be a pin hole in a hose. Its never fun just swapping out parts trying to fix an issue, but maybe you need new wires and a distributor cap. You might also have a bad injector on cylinder one.

When do you notice knock? The most common problem is in the motor mounts, not the suspension. You will notice knock under acceleration if it is the mounts.
