What kind of camera did she get? It might be better to see if you can find someone at least knowledgable in your brand or model. That would make the teaching a lot easier. Not necessary but possibly preferable. When are you planning on going out again? James

I understand and I appreciate the responses and feedback, that's part of the reason I joined this forum. I have tried with very limited sucess to use my DOF button and was just looking for an alternative. I primarily shoot close-ups with my Nikon 80-200 2.8. I was just amazed to see how shallow my DOF actually was at it's min focus range of 6ft. I shot 35mm for years and didn't realize just how out of focus some of my shots were...

Great photos Matt. Welcome aboard. We all started out as nooooobs. Im still a nooob. After 11 months of shooting, I have learned that you can find out anything you want to know about photography on this board. Just don't be afraid to ask. As far as a bird lens, I shoot Canon so I am not familiar with Nikon. Hope to see alot more of your photos soon.

Found a heck of a deal on a used camera, 40D, 2000 clicks, with a BG-E2N grip, 2 batteries and a 4GB CF Card...all for 800.00. Cannt wait Ill keep the 450D for birding since they will be cropped most likely, and use the other for landscapes and such....

That is the coolest story and having Arlon knowing the bird just tells me how small this world is. Funny how we innertwine. I saw a special the other night on Animal Planet about Houston Spca and Ike birds getting rehabilitated sp? and set free. They were doing a special on pelicans and some other birds injured. They showed the baby squirrels too--remember that? Crazy Arlon/Trey, I'm in ...

As you can see this is my first post after lurking for months here and I finally wanted to jump in say hello. I come to 2cool and check the TTMB, Hunting, and Photography boards every morning and this one always seems to be my favorite, as well as most informative. Anyway, being a noob I have no idea what I'm doing lol. I just got a Nikon D60 a week ago and I'm slowly learning what it can do, but...

The final 2008 photo contest is over and we had a tie for first place honors. That is fitting too because they were both very fine images and both deserved their acclaim. Congratulations go out to Fisher Lou and Samuarai Ag for their great images. Second place went to Ibeafireman and his beautiful photo of his God Daughter. And third place went to young Hunter and his great photo of his very ...
