any good recommendations - books, forums, any reading, for setting up a ts and vpn machine running either win2k server or 2k3 server, or even possibly 2k8 server? in a nutshell, friend is setting up a biz and the scheduling software uses ts since this is a mobile setup - people will be connecting in via laptops out in the field and the main server is going to be housed at home for the time ...

I just tried to load the new release of Endian Firewall and it is bombing out with a SMP error. I am loading it on an old Tyan S2462 dual AMD 1.2 I have lying around. I am going to check my bios setting to see if it is causing a problem. Let me know if you get it working and the performance you get, especially if it is running on a dual processor. I have put my Linksys aside and I am running a...

I have out grown my 8 port SMC8508T and after searching here and on the net I've narrowed it down to the DellPowerConnect 2716 for $188. Wanted specs: 16+ ports, Jumbo frames I was looking on fleabay and discovered that the 2724 are cheaper than the 2716. They are so much cheaper that I am thinking (against my better judgment) about bidding on the 2724. Are there issues with...

Hi, So I have a problem most might be jealous of I guess. In Japan I have my 100mbit dedicated fiber connection to my appartment which I'll soon be upgrading to Gigabit. Oh, and they aren't marketing - I test out over 80-90mbit/s within Tokyo currently. So I need a decent router with preferably 4 gigabit LAN ports on. Wireless anything would be nice, but not absolutely required as I ...

A client that I work for needs a disaster recovery plan. I have the pleasure of making that happen. Right now they have 4 virtual servers on two ESX(yes the full version, not ESXi) hosts now. Here are some more details about the config: 2 x ESX Host (Dell PE2950, 2 x Quad core 2.5Ghz Xeons, 32GB, 6 x 1TB) 4 x Guest Server 2003 installs (Exchange, File, DB, TS) 880GB of virtual images ...

Been running a small test server with VM Server 2.11. Upgraded to v2.12, and its all gone peter tong... Host OS is SBS2003 R2. This is mirroring a client setup (quad core box, 4GB ram, and 5 users...!) who wants to run an IP PBX... Asterix. Great, its a Linux app and client doesn't want anymore boxes (and also wants to explore virtualisaton for testing SBS2008, etc). Yeah, I know the ...

It turns out there is a trunking option on our DGS1248T Dlink switch ($550).. so it appears, if we ever feel the need to try this, it can be done.
