For an 8TB dedicated file server with a
RAID controller and the drives in RAID 5, does that data pass through the system RAM when it's being pulled by someone off the network or is it direct from the array to the NIC to the user? Trying to decide if I can exist with a non-server class motherboard since I need 2x PCI-e for the controller and the NIC, I have an extra 775 pin CPU laying on my desk ...

I just bought a Tyan S2912G2NR Thunder N3600R, from Geeks.com , and I have some questions: 1 - Does the board come with a backplate to mount the
heatsinks? 2 - Does it support DDR2 800 memory? I'm thinking about buying 2 4gb crucial kits, I only want to know if i can use this DDR2 800 kit , or if I should use this DDR2 667 kit . 3 - Does it accept this heatsink: Coolermaster Hyper TX...

Greetings again, I have just installed a couple of Tualatin 1.4s on a Gigabyte GA-VTXD and was impressed by the difference they made. I have a few other dual
socket 370 mobos and I am considering putting Tualatin 1.4s on them but to do so I will need to acquire adapters. Do these adapters work viably in a dual cpu setup? Any advice and tips appreciated.

I never bothered to install this initially because my machine was under 24/7 full load and there was no point... now almost 3 yrs later, it has a much easier life and
there are times when it will be idle. It runs XP 64-bit. What files do I need and any BIOS settings to enable this power saving feature ?

I'm looking for a new scalable motherboard, and I have not started researching them yet. I'm hoping I can save a lot of time by asking here at 2CPU, rather than
starting from scratch. I would like a high-end motherboard with a lot of room for future upgrading, but that I can start out with a cheaper CPU or two and a few sticks of cheaper memory. I've been building dual CPU systems ...

Does anyone know if Supermicro has any place that reveal what changes are made to the current bios version? Even better a release history with notes for each version? It seems very useful to know if a new bios relates to an issue you may be having. Why is this info kept
top secret? Regards, ltg

I recently purchased this board and i've had it running a few days then i experienced an issue. I create a new active partition for a linux install. I rebooted and received a cmos checksum error, then cmos was reset. I had to go into the bios and manually activate all my drives as they were unactivated. So here is where the issue is. Booting takes takes a long time. I had to boot to the ...
