Front Cocking Serrations are an aid to the shooter in correctly press checking the chamber for a loaded round. The FCS come into play if you are running heavy recoil springs. W/O FCS your hand can slip off the slide and wind up in front of the muzzle. The correct press check is to grasp the FCS from underneath and retract the slide 1/4'' to a 1/2''. But they are handy to have if you do have FLGR and heavy recoil springs....

Ran 200 rounds through it today at the range, Sights are perfect. Point of Aim is Point of Impact and only had one failure to fire but the primer was dented on the round so I will definitely put the blame on the round. I tried several different magazines. Springfield Armory, CMC, Wilson , and Kimber all worked flawlessly. Sun went down and the little green dots led the way to the Q target. Only thing I misjudged was the grips, I love the look...

With a little notch in the top of the chamber you can now look down and see if the chamber is loaded....no need for a press check unless the lighting is so poor that you can't tell.

Un----Be-----freaking-----lievable!!!! There was just an auction on Gunbroker.com for the Parked/Loaded model, I missed the closing by like 5 minutes, and the gun sold for $625. You've gotta be kidding me, I would have given $650 easily!!! http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIte...Item=145281961

In every one I've seen they are staked but not so tightly they won't come out. You will need a bushing driver to remove and replace them. The old ones will probably still get chewed up on removal. If you try it with just a screwdriver you will tear them up pretty badly. (usually)
The problem with bushings is they're usually soft enough they'll deform if you lean on them with too much torque. ...

Since the definition of a fair price is that price which an unpressured buyer will agree to pay an unpressured seller in the presence of alternatives, given that you agreed to pay it, if neither of you was under any undo pressure, the answer is "no".

The blocky frames are on pre-2002 pistols. I have 2 that way that were manufactured on 2000 and 2001.
The radiused frame is called the 2002 Spec I believe.
From the Springfield Custom Shop worksheet:
Recontour front strap to 2002 specifications - $70.00
Recontour dust cover to 2002 specifications - $70.00
Refinishing done at additional charge. Stainless steel 1911-A1s, additional ...

all frames/slides are forged by Imbel in Brazil, it's been this way from the get go.
you hear about problems, but that is a minority compared to the 1000's out there w/o problems.

Keep looking. And don't turn up your nose at a used Loaded. I paid much less than $700 for mine because it had a few rounds thru it. No more used than it would have been if I'd shot it for the weekend.
You can put this on your "wish list" at Buds and they'll email you when they get one.

If you're going to shoot lots of ammo have lots of lubrication in the pistol. You can't over lubricate it as long as you use CLP. You can make a mess of your clothing, but the pistol will function just fine.

Is the loaded new or used? If new, call SA customer service. They will fix it. Even if not new, call them.
I bought a 2 year old mil-spec and have no complaints. I dont hear of many serious issues with SA 1911s.
With that kind of issue. I would send it back to SA. They are usually fairly fast.

Snubby 1911's are certainly known to be more prone to problems than Government models or Commander-length guns. You knew that, right? That said, it doesn't mean they can't be reliable shooters. Put at least 200-300 rounds of FMJ ammo through it before making any lasting judgements about it. JMO, of course.

most will say to run 1000 rounds through it. that gets it good and broken in. 800 of ball ammo, then 200 or so of your carry ammo. is what ive heard. there pretty reliable out of the box.

There are Milspecs, GI Milspecs, and everything else.

Anything else?

IIRC the reasoning is for press checks. Grab the front of the slide push to the rear and observe the chamber.
The big problem is you run a risk of putting your hand in front of a loaded weapon, not exactly the best idea. For this reason some folks like Todd Jarret grab the slide from under the dustcover on the front serations and work the slide in this manner.

It's amazing what a set of sights does for the G.I.
Sometimes a 1911 doesn't need all the fluff and just a good set of sights.
Come on...rain??? Who waits for the sun to run a qual??? J/K
I have to say though, that frame to slide fit is baaad. Looks the way my Champion looked. Send it in. They hand fit a new slide, barrel etc. to my frame. Not tryin' to trash your gun my man.
