S&W 15-2 firing pin problem
Published (2010-01-03 11:52:00)
I took it to the backyard range, BLM 5 min from house Saturday. Put 100 rounds through it and it didn't have one light strike. However the DA pull is definitely increased. Guess I'll have to "tune" the primer some.

There are always rumors floating around about Colt selling its tooling for a discontinued gun. Cole has never sold tooling, because they don't want anyone making copies of Colt firearms. Once the tooling is out of Colt's hands, people can pass it around to people Colt would not want making Colt copies. On Colt's old guns, they simply destroy the tooling. Back in the 1980's Colt discontinued the Detective Special and...

S&W 442 vs Ruger LCR
Published (2010-01-03 22:38:00)
Although, I haven't had a chance to fire the Ruger, I will stand behind my choice with S&W 442. It has a bit of weight to dampen recoil and is back on target smoothly. It fits will in my grasp/hand and the recoil is manageable, 100 rounds, two-hand hold, weak only and strong only. I felt no unpleasantries afterwards. I'll be keeping this one for those easy to grab/ fast out of the house trips or for a pocket BUG. 1911forty5

New to me S&W 15-2
Published (2009-12-31 10:08:00)
Excellent gun! Had a very clean 15-1 that I regret getting rid of. It was very easy to rip the center out of a B27 target at a fast, DA tempo. Single action feel was pure, old school S&W, fantastic.

I hope they do not begin production again. It will never be the same and the mystique will be lost.

just got a new revolver
Published (2009-12-31 21:46:00)
yup but it has a shorter barrel. I think that is the police positive revolver. I have a pocket positive which is basicaly the same gun except it has about a two inch barrel and it has hard black grips. I thought that this gun would be great for carry but i did not realised that the 32 long carrtrige isn't very powerful heres a pic of what i got (this is not my gun but it is the same model)

I was browsing one of the local gun stores this week and spied this find. At the time I gave it a casual look. It seemed pretty nice however.
Well I went back yesterday and thought Id give it a serious look and maybe take it home Ive got several revolvers, all mostly recent manufacture but none have the hole in the frame
Back to the gun store… I give it a good looking over ...

The only issue that I have ever heard about the
. 30 carbine Blackhawk is that it is LOUD!!!
I have had Blackhawks in .357, .44 and .45.
Never had a problem with any of them.

The Ruger is the new kid on the block, but the S&W *looks* much better, more refined. The Ruger is reported to have much less felt recoil, and I was impressed with reports of ten thousnd round +P endurance tests.
I'd personally give the Ruger the nod here, but doubt you'd be disappointed with either...

S & W would have you believe they are copies of the originals and for the most part they are. But, IMHO and that od others, they are not. Older S & W revolvers haved pinned barrels and the cylinders on magnums have countersunk chambers. Those processes cost more, so Smith dropped them. New is good, but old in this case is better.

I got the S&W 442 Airwweight for Xmas and on the 26th I was at the (out door - brrrrr) range with it. It is an excellent BUG.
The first few rounds, because the lack of a good grip, bounced around but once that was learned it was easy to shoot fast, at close distance and quite pleasant. Shooting a hundred rounds (wish I would have brought more with) was a breeze.

I did a search and didn't see anything on this so forgive me if there is a thread covering this. Anyone have experience shooting 45 ACP in a Redhawk 45 Colt using moon clips? What kind of issues would I run into? Thought about casting & sizing some bullets to .452 but I'm not sure it would be necessary. Does anyone make moon clips (1/3 or full) for the Redhawk? I must admit my ignorance in this ...
