I concur with Greyson. If you read my post about the customer service aspect with Les, he was adamant about getting the full guide rod out of my Concept VIII and they sent me a new recoil plug and stainless spring cap which came 2 days ago. He told me NOT TO FIRE THE GUN until the parts were installed and had several reasons as to why. I can only surmise that if you send the whole hog back to Les you will end up with a small bill for what will...

Pounder, dang brother. I hate seeing that. Good to know y'all are ok. If your trying to catch up with Matt in the round count, just borrow one of his guns. I know he has that CC and a TRS... Let us know what Les says! I bet a lesser pistol would have given way.

Baer Frame Size vs. others
Published (2009-12-04 20:47:00)
The first thing I noticed when I received my Concept VII is how much beefier the dust cover is compared to my other 1911's. It feels heavier but much better balanced. I'm sure the bulked up frame will make for a tight fit in a holster but should break in just fine. I was very impressed with the extra bulk personally.

Interesting question.... I went off an looked at some pressure data. Obviously there is no data for 10-11 gr. of 231 in a 45 ACP, but it does exist for a 44 mag. A 44 mag loaded with 11 gr. of 231 and a 240 gr bullet generates about 38,000 c.u.p. Since the 45 case is a lot smaller than the 44 mag case, I don't think it's inconcievable that the pressure in the 45 case could approach 50,000 c.u.p. That's pretty durn high and...

pounder35, Holy moly!! Glad you're OK. I'd rebuild it using LB stuff. If the frame is OK, you'd have more value in this pistol if you used OEM stuff. That forged LB slide took a beating; may have even saved your face. And people say Dremels ruin guns

Both of my Baers have the same issue. They are a tight fit until the holster is broken in. With my Kydex holsters, I use one for my Baers and one for the others. I just adjust the tension screws.

You're asking a bunch of Baer owners, whether buying a Baer is crazy? Haha, we're all gonna say no to justify our purchases.
Go for it, I own Colts and Kimbers, these will outshoot both of them. Ironically, I also have a pre-series II Kimber which I carried for a while as to not beat up my Baers, I trusted it just fine.
Here's the thing though, Kimber's pre-series II guns are becoming ...

I would try and see if the sight will move side to side without the pin. If it won't budge, I'd say it would be alright. If it does move, you might try expanding the roll pin just a bit, or call LB and have em send you a new one.
OTOH, consider yourself lucky. Lot's of folks want a new front sight installed and the little roll pin often has to be drilled out.

I just spend all my gun money sending my Springer GI to the custom shop. I probably could have had a new PII for the amount. Than again, I guess I win either way
