hello, question about itunes speed
Published (2009-12-25 00:18:00)
hi everyone! new apple switcher here. just a question about itunes speed. i have a very large collection, 270gb, of music stored on a windows formatted ntfs 500gb external hdd. I have ntfs-3g, so i can write to it. Itunes seems to be quite slow, i mean slower than on windows 7, with the exact same library. I am wondering if it is because of os x's inefficiency with ntfs that is slowing it down. is it worth the pain of reformatting this...

I'm glad to help. Yes, let us know how things work out. The scariest part is cracking open the mini, but once it's open, it's easy from there. You'll have to do the RAM first since you have to remove the HD and the optical drive assembly to get to the RAM.

well its xmas and choices for my gift for myself is short and simple... since money is short and i want to enjoy more of my hifi speakers, an ipod is at the top of choices (it won the battle against bicycle brakes & iomega minimax 1TB *both for january*) now the problem remains the songs format recognition among flac, mp3, wma, aac and ipod only work with itunes and the app has this annoying order that is to ask us if we want to synch...

Building G4 and missing screws
Published (2009-12-27 17:01:00)
Got em for free at a local repair shop. now that I have the G4 mini all back together with the new 320 GB hard drive . I switched it on and got the smiley face with a question mark. I formatted the hard drive and now had to order a copy of OSX to install. I had hoped to be able to use my Snow Leopard disk but I was just told that the 1.42 G4 mini I have wont run it. I will say that the strip down and reassembly was easier than I thought. My...

Thank you all for the information on the SD. I purchased one from macsales.com, thank you bobaloo, they had a great install video. I also purchased a 4GB RAM upgrade, figured might as well do it since i have the Mini opened up. Just waiting patiently for it all to arrive. This will be my first attempt at an upgrade, wish me luck..... I will post the outcome when complete... John

i would like to start by showing my BATTLE STATION in my new mac world! not much but a strong little box for a mild user mainly net and pictures - nothing fancy but indeed reliable (no, the LG 22" monitor top-left corner is not bend, its just the camera angle)

Good deal. I wouldn't worry about it being refurbished. It may have just been a return with nothing wrong with it. Like you said it there was something wrong with it, it's now fixed. Probably less chance of there being something wrong with it than buying a brand new unit.

Sorry if this is obvious to you all. If I buy Office for Mac for my current Mac mini (intel, os 10.4) will I be allowed to uninstall it and move it to my new Mac mini (sometime mid 2010)? Can't do both at once. I know about open source software and iWork but local elementary and middle school are Microsoft dominated and Mrs. Macminifan is stuggling to provide tech support to the...

Firewalls should always be turned on. Irrespective of whether your using a Mac or a PC. Consider it like insurance. It won't slow down your internet experience, nor will it make your mac bullet proof. But it stops most trouble before it begins. Aqua
