A 2.5" HD is 5 volts and a 3.5" is 12 volts. Does this adapter take the single 12 volt feed and make it two 5 volt feeds?

I got a decent price on 5 2tb caviar black hdds. the best 2tb drive out there or so they say. supposed to come to my home next week. I am looking to set this up in owc's raid device http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/MEQX2KIT0GB/ it will be costly to do but still less then owc's 5 year enterprise solution with seagate hdd's . owc wants 2k i can do it with the caviar blacks under 1600. in theory this should...

Thanks gryphontech, I appreciate the workaround. I did however return the drive. I decided to assemble my own drive.

LCD?
Published (2009-12-21 21:39:00)
So any recommendations? I have bad eye sight and don't want the text to be too small. What should I be looking for in the specs when I shop for a lcd monitor? For example best buy has a 23" acer lcd for $140 now. How can I tell if it will be a good choice? I had a 21.5" lcd before and the text was too small for my tastes.

Printer Recommendation Needed
Published (2009-12-23 11:03:00)
Thanks for the suggestions. I think I will just keep the existing HP 5280 All In One for color jobs and then purchase a Laser for B/W printing. I'll follow through on each of your suggestions and determine what works best. Bill. HP software for Mac printers seems OK. I don't have any complaints at least to this point. The only thing I don't like about the HP is that is drinks ink at a really fast rate.

I don't see any real advantage to getting a NAS if your not running a network. The drive will be much slower than a firewire 800 or possibly even USB2. I've not got a USB2 drive to test but I have my NAS drive connected through a gigabit Ethernet connection and my read speed is around 450Mbps but write speeds are only around 120-150Mbps. copying files between different shares on...

Without actually owning one, IMHO this looks to be the best of it's kind. If this could be adapted to work in a NAS situation it would be a dream setup. I'd buy one of these in a heartbeat if the funds were there.

Normally, this just means that the drive is formatted for Windows, which is easy to fix - you just reformat the drive from your Mac (format: OSX extended). However, there may be one other issue: if the drive is USB, some Macs need to plug it into two USB ports to give it sufficient power. If the drive comes with a y-plug (i.e., one side connects with the drive and splits into 2 USB ports), ...

I don't think you can really get away from it all printers use loads of ink that’s where they make the money I always found HPs to be better than epson's as the Econo mode on the HP is a pretty decent print level compared to draft on epson which is washed out and hard to read forcing you to use Normal. I have heard Canon are supposed to be more economical but how true that is ...

Just open up a terminal screen (Application/utilities/Terminal or iTerm for those that have it) and enter this command: Code: diskutil unmount "/Volumes/HP Launcher" If you want to get fancy, you can create an AppleScript and paste that line into it. I just picked up a MiniStack v3 from Newer Technology. The v3 is the one with the FW800, FW400, USB and e-sata. So far so good, although I haven't run alot of benchmarks on it. I got one with a 500GB drive, but the reason I got it is to hook up my FW800 drive for video editing and other FW400 drives for offline storage and various stuff, so that the slower drives (theoretically) wouldn't hamper ...
